The Delagente Youth Leadership School will extend its radius of action during 2022

  • The School already certified a first group of young people in December 2021.
  • New headquarters for training in leadership for political advocacy will be opened in various cities of Valle del Cauca.
  • Comfenalco Valle Delagente created, promoted, financed and executed the Delagente Youth School, for the academic and political strengthening of the young people from Valle del Cauca who participated in the different movements of the National Strike.

With the opening of six new offices in different cities of Valle del Cauca, the Delagente Youth Leadership School will continue its training efforts during 2022.

This year, Palmira is the first city to open its doors to 25 young people from various backgrounds, interested in strengthening their knowledge and potential as agents of positive change in the region and the country.

During the immediately preceding year, a total of 32 young people from Cali received their certification from the first version of the Delagente Youth School, which was offered between September and December 2021.

How was the Delagente Youth School born?

The mobilization of young people that took place in the 2021 National Strike, caused the emergence of youth actors who participated in various public and private spaces. In this framework, the leadership potential of the youth population was evident, to work for the transformation of their communities and territories and, in turn, the need to train them to materialize that potential.

Faced with this panorama and, after dialogue with young people from the city, Comfenalco Valle Delagente created the Delagente Youth Leadership School, with the purpose of strengthening the capacities for political advocacy and social transformation of the young people of the city.

During the closure of the first version of the Delagente Youth Leadership School, the participating groups met and identified common objectives and strategies for the transformation of their neighborhoods and communities, through a day to consolidate an advocacy plan:

  • In the case of Floralia, advocacy actions should focus on ensuring that training spaces for young people are institutionalized on issues related to the School: understanding of the operation and times of the State, as well as participation and advocacy to achieve the transformations required. youth and territories.
  • In the case of Nuevo Latir, its advocacy should ensure that, in the long term, eastern Cali becomes an obligatory space for tourism and recreation focused on caring for the land, celebrating diverse cultures and their cultural expressions.

“The Delagente Youth School has left great learning for the groups and for Comfenalco Valle Delagente; especially, a great commitment to continue contributing from the mission of each organization and person, so that the city of Cali becomes the territory of peace and opportunities that we dream of”.

Said Felice Grimoldi Rebolledo, General Director of Comfenalco Valle Delagente.
