The alliance between the Ministry of Economic Development and the Employment Agency of the Comfenalco Valle Delagente Family Compensation Fund already leaves more than 800 people from Cali benefiting from employment this year.
Hundreds of people from Cali gathered at the Cosmocentro shopping center, where 17 companies focused on the business sector BPO They shared their job offer for the unemployed population of the region.
“We are promoting employment in alliance with Comfenalco Valle Delagente and the shopping center in the BPO sector, the one that is growing the most in the city and the country. We had a large influx of young people who applied to the various offers of call center in Spanish and English”, described Tatiana Duque, from the Employability Area of the District Economic Development Secretariat.
For her part, Clara Eugenia Orozco, Employability Manager of the Comfenalco Valle Delagente Family Compensation Fund, highlighted the positive balance of the day and the benefits it left behind. "We worked together with the Mayor's Office and we achieved 280 registered people, opting for the available vacancies offered by 17 companies, most of them call center, which have also required bilingual staff, where young people between the ages of 18 and 28 managed to apply. In addition to this, they were registered on the public employment service platform and may apply to other current vacancies," he detailed.
The job fair with an emphasis on the BPO sector included, within its job offer, vacancies in contact centers, back office, finance, accounting and human resources, among others.
Young unemployed people like Freddy Chamorro, who attended the fair with enthusiasm, highlighted the importance of this type of opportunity. “It is very good that these spaces are opened so that people can obtain a job. In the same way, bilingualism and remote jobs are an excellent opportunity; For my part, I opted for vacancies in the commercial area,” he explained.
In turn, Diana Vaquero, who attended the fair, confessed that she was struck by "the multiple offers and in my case I applied for vacancies in call center”.
Gianinna Siufi, representative of the company TaskUs, stressed how essential the English language is in the present and future labor market. “For us it is very important to participate in this type of fair and publicize the offers we have. The most important thing is that we are looking for people who have a B1 or B2 level of English; if they are not yet B2, we link them to the academy The Art of Fluency, where in four weeks we take them from B1 to B2 so that they can work in the company”, he concluded.
